Booking Terms and Conditions

Harrold Equine

Horse transport terms and conditions

  1. All bookings are taken on the acceptance and understanding of the following terms and conditions. By confirming booking, you agree to these terms and conditions at all times.
  2. All quotes provided are at no cost to you. Quotes are valid for 72 hours, after that time, we cannot guarantee the price will remain as quoted, and a new quote will be worked out prior to booking.
  3. All bookings require a 50% deposit payment at time of booking. Full payment must be received 48 hours before travel. For bookings with less than 48 hours notice, full payment must be made at time of booking. Cancellations must be given with at least 48 hours notice, we reserve the right to retain 100% of the deposit paid.  For cancellations of less than 48 hours notice, 100% of the full fee will be charged and retained by us.
  4. Once a booking has been secured via payment of the deposit, we will not cancel the booking, except in exceptional circumstances or extreme weather conditions that might pose a danger to travel. We will make every effort to re-arrange travel to a convenient time. We pride ourselves on our reliability and professionalism - you will not be 'bumped' so that we can do another job.
  5. Additional fees incurred during transport, such as excess for loading/waiting time (£15.00 per hour split into 30 minute segments) will be invoiced to you and required to be paid within 24 hours of completion of transport. We allow 30 minutes each end for loading/unloading as part of the booking.
  6. Emergency transports are subject to an additional hire charge - see costs below. Emergency costs are payable at time of collection of the horse from its initial location.
  7. Horses must have their passport in order to travel, except for emergency veterinary treatment. The passport must be provided to us prior to loading and remain with the horse during travel. Horses without passports will not be travelled and 100% of your costs will be forfeited to us.
  8. Our insurance does not cover the cost of veterinary treatment for the horse and this remains your responsibility. We recommend that your horse is suitably insured for illness/injury prior to travel.
  9. In the event of your horse becoming unwell during transport, we will convey them to the nearest veterinarian for treatment. We will make every effort to contact you prior to doing so. Payment of veterinary costs is the responsibility of the owner and will be charged directly to them.
  10. Obviously unwell or lame horses will not be transported unless for veterinary treatment.
  11. Horses are to be loaded and unloaded by their owners onto our transport. Suitable headcollars and leadropes should be provided by the owner. We are more than happy to assist with tricky loaders but the owner or their representative must be present.
  12. Owners should provide their own hay/haylage in a net for travel. This is to prevent transmission of infectious diseases between horses and ensures your horse has their usual preparation of hay to prevent colic.
  13. Collection and arrival times are estimated to the best of our knowledge. We take no responsibility for delays due to traffic and travel conditions.
  14. Any damage caused to the horsebox by the horse during loading, unloading and travel remains the responsibility of the owner and they will be responsible for all costs. We welcome inspection of our box prior to travel. Horses that present with dangerous behaviour whilst travelling will be returned to their loading point. We reserve the right to refuse travel to any horses who display dangerous behaviour to our horsebox or any person involved in travel. In such cases we will retain 100% of the payment for failed travel.
  15. We allow small quantities of personal items such as saddle/bridle to travel on the box, depending on weight. These items are not covered by our insurance and travel entirely at the owners risk. Owners are responsible for suitable insurance for these items. We reserve no responsibility for these items and are not liable for any damage, losses or costs incurred.
  16. T&C's copyright to Harrold Equine 2023.
